Organize with Us!

Organizers keep our union strong by building up our membership, keeping communication channels open between members, union leaders, and staff, and mobilizing their coworkers to take action. Anyone can be an organizer in the workplace.

Why Organizing Matters

When our union is strong, we’re able to win more at the bargaining table and in the workplace. A good contract is only as good as our ability to enforce it every shift. It’s our responsibility to show management that we won’t put up with practices that endanger us and our patients, or wages that don’t respect the importance of our work. Being well-organized means we take care of our patients and each other. It’s how we won safe staffing in Connecticut, and it’s how we’ll keep winning contracts and legislation that keep our communities healthy.

Organizing Isn't Scary!

Start small! Get to know your shop steward, they can teach you more about the union and model good organizing practices. Talk to your coworkers and start developing rapport with them so it feels easier to ask them to come to a meeting or join the union. If talking to new people feels hard at first, try attending a general membership meeting and getting familiar with our contract. Remember, learning to be an organizer takes time and practice!
